Weaving, Judo, Greco-Roman wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Jiu-Jitsu (of the traditional form), and Sambo together with powerful techniques from folk wrestling (catch wrestling a.k.a. catch-as-catch-can), our No-Gi Grappling class pushes limits while teaching proper fundamentals.
Submission fighting is an important element of the larger sport of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, setting the stage for this class to improve students’ ability to excel and reach new goals.
Rather than using a Gi, our grapplers will wear shorts, skin-sticking clothing such as rash guards, spats, or mixed short clothes to prevent injury. Led by No-Gi World champion and Oregon State Champion Gustavo Bessa, the class also explores submission techniques normally banned in other arts or competitions such as heel hooks, toe holds, wrist locks.
